Jeffery Fraser attended Baker University on a tennis scholarship and studied liberal arts from 1977 to 1980. He later enrolled at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management in 1989. After completing his BS, Jeffery Fraser remained at Friends University to earn his Master of Science in Information Science, which he received in 1991. Drawing from this educational foundation, Mr. Fraser has founded several companies, including Kansas Information Consortium and the National Information Consortium, where he developed a range of applications to help businesses and citizens conduct business with their governments over the Internet.
After seven years in operation, Jeffery Fraser’s companies merged into NIC, Inc. Mr. Fraser and his family then moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, after which the company went public. Jeffery Fraser served as the Chief Executive Officer of NIC until his retirement in 1999.
Several years later, Jeffery Fraser returned to NIC to help bring the company back from the brink of dissolution caused by the dot-com collapse. After rejoining the company in 2002, he served as CEO until 2008 and again retired. Mr. Fraser remained on its Board of Directors until 2009. Jeffery Fraser earned the Ernst &Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Technology award in 2004.
Since his first retirement in 1999, Jeffery Fraser has sponsored new and emerging companies around the country. Currently active with holdings in Valdez, Alaska, Jeffery Fraser has directed his energies toward reopening the Tsaina Lodge with his wife Ingrid.
Jeffery Fraser began studying for his PhD in Business and Technology at Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in April 2010. He enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities including snowboarding, hunting and fishing, golfing, playing tennis, rock climbing, and participating in bird dog field trials. An accomplished pilot, Jeffery Fraser holds his ATP pilot license with jet ratings. He loves spending time with his wife and his six children.
