How to Be a Safe Snowboarder

An experienced entrepreneur, Jeffery Scott Fraser owns the Valdez, Alaska-based Tsaina Lodge and concurrently serves as an investor for employee matching startup Job Pose. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Jeffrey S. Fraser pursues a range of athletic hobbies, including snowboarding.

Whether you are a seasoned participant or are new to the sport, it is important to purchase the correct equipment and follow a number of rules to remain safe on the slopes.

Helmets, goggles, and pads are all crucial gear for any snowboarding excursion, but you should also remember to purchase a few specific items before you arrive at the mountain. Falling off of your board is common, so you should invest in the proper bindings and leashes to keep yourself and other snowboarders safe. In addition, purchase clothing that is brightly colored and water resistant to keep yourself visible to other snowboarders and warm.

Every time you hit the slopes, you should check the local weather report to gauge snow conditions and look at the slope map of the area to know the terrain. Moreover, many resorts have restricted areas and closed trails each season, so you should follow any posted signs and regulations. Additionally, riding solo is strongly discouraged.
